Week 7 - American Samoa - WHEN THE WAY IS HARD, TRY
Talofa!
6 weeks already?! as another elder from my intake said 'We've got some stripes under out belts now'.. haha I am no longer the greenest greenie!! but don't get it wrong yo I am still greener than green hahaha. but the work is going super well. We have 6 baptisms on saturday! a guy named tana and his kids muti and mary.. two sisters named tofaga and gase.. and another homie named byrone. If my cousin jaiden is reading this email byrone reminds me of you like to the T bro.. its kinda weird. anyway right now we are just trying to help them all out prepare for their baptisms on saturday!
So no I am not training! yet... my comps permit to live in american samoa ends on november 16th which is in the middle of the transfer. so he is going back to Upolu to finish his mission and you can bet ya boy is gonna be training right here in my birthplace, Malaeimi.
Anyway the language man! soooollllee... its rough bro! I think of it like this.. the language is like a puzzle in my brain. once it is fully completed in my brain the picture will be clear and complete and I will be able to say whatever I want and understand everything. Every day Its like I am fitting a piece to the puzzle.. I am improving but It is super slow. I just hate being in lesson and actually understanding a question, and knowing the perfect answer.. but can't express myself in samoan. that's the pits right there man.
but just as learning the language is important to fuflilling my purpose so it learning how to teach! my teaching is oki at the moment .. like broooooo... its rough hahaha. but Im pushing forward what else is there to do right?! hopefully time will be my friend and eventually I will get to the point of being a good teacher. there is a huge difference it knowing the stuff and knowing how to teach it. I know the stuff.. but teaching it is different.
anywaysssssssssss just trying to stay humble and put my shoulder to the wheel. shout out to my man berekely stucle who gave me the best advice ever, "just get through the first three months. believe me just get through the first three months". as my favorite samoan hymn says, "pe a faigata le ala, taumafai" -- WHEN THE WAY IS HARD, TRY.
random stuff !!!
-drank my first coconut this morning and it was straight bombbbb
-my buddy elder irvine from my intake, who proselytes one villiage down, had to go to the hospital because he got bit by a dog. BRO THE DOGS ARE NO JOKE.
-my comps camera got washed in the washing machine. RIP. good thing he is almost done ya feel
