Week 19 - American Samoa - Transfer 4 - staying in Malaeimi!

Transfer number 4 has come and I get one more blessed transfer in Malaeimi with Elder Masuisui!

Time is going by so fast. too fast man how am I already 6 months out?! Why is time like this man. As Elder Masuisui said, "Time is like a girl, it never does what you want it to unless you manage it wisely". haha that kinda sounds messed up but its so true man when you want time to go fast it seems like it takes forever and when you want it to go slow it goes by in a flash. Either way we gotta use the time wisely.

Me and my companion are teaching a friend and we don't want to jinx it but we really think the spirit is working with this guy and if he accepts the gospel it will be a miracle. We contacted him actually by knocking on a door by another one of our friends house and he was eager to talk to us. The first time we talked he was quoting bible verses like none other and he was all about "the word of god" and so on. As we tried to share the Book of Mormon he rejected it because "only the bible is the word of god" and so we were kind of disappointed. The next couple times we went to talk he told us that he can heal his children with the power that he gets from reading the bible and that they haven't been to the hospital for 4 years. Just a bunch of weird stuff he was saying but me and my companion noticed that he has true intent in his heart and he has so much faith but it is just misguided. I shared with him that verse in 2 Nephi 33 that I talked about last email and just implored him to read it and pray about it with a sincere heart. We decided that we were going to drop him after one more visit if he didn't improve but when we went yesterday something had changed. We noticed right when he answered the door. We sat down together and started talking and as the conversation started he told us that he read the last chapter of the Book of Mormon. As the conversation continued we answered his questions and for the first time he didn't search for a bible verse to argue against what we had to say. The spirit was there with us. He said he forgot to pray about whether it was true but he accepted to do it again. I know that he felt the spirit. I just hope and pray his pride doesn't make him reject the witness he received.

Just a short experience that I have seen of how the Book of Mormon has impacted a life. I know it is true and so does our friend. so will all people who read it with real intent.

So blessed to preach the gospel to the people here in Samoa.

I love you all

and yes Jesus Loves you too (Elder Atwood)
