Week 11 - American Samoa
Malo Lava Soifua lo'u uso e ma tuafafine,
These past few weeks have been hard man as we have been trying really hard to find new people to teach. We have a good group of people we are teaching from one of the wards but the other ward is pretty dried up. But I do want to talk about one of the guys we met the other day. We walked down this road I had never been down before and I was like "yo lets knock on this door" so we did and this short guy answers the door and was like "yo come in" so we went in and started talking to him. He told us his name was Ayo and he was from the Philippines. we had a good talk and he told us how he is living here by himself to work and provide for his family back in the Philippines. man this dude was so humble. then we talked to him about the Book of Mormon and I explained to him how it works with the bible and is another testament of Jesus Christ and how it was the foundation of our unique message and stuff. Then we read the intro together and he couldn't understand the "big English words" very well. so a couple days later we came back to him with a Book of Mormon in Tagalog. I can't wait to keep visiting him. We will see where that goes! So ya we got our really shy friend "charlie" to come to church with us so that was dope! So we've got a lot going on but at the same time we are really just trynna find new people.
This week has been full of random stuff so let me just start spilling it off my brain:
- My new companion is doooopppe bro his name is Elder Visesio and he is the chillest dude in the world.. He's got a dope accent too.
- on Monday I woke up and I felt really sick to my stomach and not to be too graphic but it was like a waterfall at both ends sooo ya we didn't get to proselyting until later that night when I started feeling a little bit better.
- so everyone before I came out here had this idea that I would gain weight but bro I have lost hecka weight its bad. the food is really heavy here but so is the walking and humidity so I am not gaining anything rn lol.
- yo I can like understand most reading in Samoan now! understanding the speaking is still slow but i can see progress each week.
-We did a big program with singing and like testimony and stuff called "pesepesega" on Sunday for the whole island and we got like 350 people plus to come!
-this little kid named mao who is my homie now ran up to me the other day and started rubbing this plant on my face to get rid of my acne haha the kids here are golden.
