Week 23 - American Samoa

Malo soifua!

Matua a'asa le la sole!! (extremely scorching the sun bro!) haha that phrase has been said all week by me and my comp! it was a very hot week but an even better week for finding!

earlier in the week we talked to a member and she referred us to a new family who had just moved in. There is the mom and her 5 kids. apparently they had been coming to church for the past three weeks and when we went and talked to them they just seemed ready man. We are gonna visit them again later after we go buy them some scriptures and hymn books from the distribution center. God is always preparing people. So awesome that our job as missionaries is just to have faith and be obedient and God will bless us with those he has prepared. We plan on inviting them to baptism letsssss goooo! so exciting man.

another one of our friends is named Iosefa. we found this guy just by knocking on his door down this back road I had never gone. He is a 7th day aventist and he is awesome man. at the end of one our lessons he legit asked us if he could come to church!! bro what?! its like pullin teeth to get some of the guys to church and he asked us if he could come?!? that was an amazing miracle and he is truly searching his soul you can really tell when we have lessons with him. sad thing is there was like a unplanned cleaning at his church and sunday that he went to with his family so he missed the chance to come to church this past week but when we went and visited him again he assured us he would be there next week.

also another experience my companion had was unplanned.. we went into one of the stores and bought some delicious hot pockets and after heating them up in the convenient microwaves inside we went to eat them at the bus stop out front. while we were enjoying our hot pockets these two girls came and sat there and started eating too so we took the opportunity to talk with them and share a message. after a little while we start talking about the gospel and one of them stands up and goes, "can I ask you a question?" and I was like ohhhh no haha whats gonna happen and then she was like, "do you know what grace is?". I told her that I was pleased to say that I did indeed know what grace is. I go on to say that we have a loving father in heaven. He loves us unconditionally. he created a plan for us so we can all have the opportunity to obtain all that he has. God sent his son Jesus Christ to atone for us. Because of the atonement we are all saved from physical death (through the resurrection) and spiritual death (sin) on condition of our repentance. Grace the enabling power that comes from the atonement that allows us receive all the blessings that our father in heaven has prepared for us. Are we saved by grace? absolutely yes. "it is only in and through the grace of God that men are saved"(2 Nephi 10:24) But as Brad Wilcox explains in his talk "His Grace is Sufficient", a more important question to ask is, "have you been changed by grace?" Jesus Christ did not suffer so we can all continue on in sin and then be saved. What would be the point of that? What would be the point of life? Jesus Christ Suffered for us so we can become like him. He wants us to change. He already paid the price by suffering for us. Yes, by grace we are saved. by grace we are changed. It is just so beautiful. anyway I shared that with her and she went on about how she used to be a member but then she "came to the light" and now she goes to another church. It really really sad to see people who just don't get it man. Anyway I bore my testimony and we left. I hope and pray that God provides a way for her to truly understand his love for her and what his plan is for her. Please listen to that talk by brad wilcox. It is incredible.

I hope you all have an amazing week.
