Week 22 - American Samoa

Ou uso pele e ma tuafafine, Talofa!

Your Elder is just getting skinnier while your other Elder Masuisui is just getting fatter. Its going incredibly well out here especially since I bought an outrageously good quality speaker from the local Chinese store for 13 bucks so I can blast my "Samoa Apia mission approved music playlist" music. the morning routine has been jazzed up in dramatic fashion. Nothing like the motab to push me through my gainz session every morning let me tell you. Throwing my orange peels off the third story balcony and trying to land them in the trash can below never gets old. And yes I am actually starting to get used to the cold shower its incredible. this is most likely my last couple weeks in Malaeimi so I am really trynna to give it all I got and really blow this area up for the next elders.

A lot of finding has been happening these past couple of weeks and we've been visiting a ton of members trying to get some referrals. I'll tell a short story that happened:

We talked to one member and he referred us to a family who had once been members but they weren't going to church so we went and checked it out. we talked to the mom and she said her and her husband were both born in the church and went to church every single week and were even taking temple prep classes to go get married and seal their families in the temple.. then something stupid happened within their family and based on what the mom said it seems like they were mad at someone in the church. Just cuz of that they stopped going to church. and then they said they stopped getting visits from people from the ward. 2 things we learn from this unfortunate story.
  1. We as members of Christ's church need to build our foundations on Jesus Christ. if we don't then we will fall...

"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall" (Helaman 5:12).

  2. Never give up on less active members in the ward. as soon as you do then that's when they'll be lost. as ward members it is our responsibility to help our fellow brothers and sisters endure to the end...

"Nevertheless, ye shall not cast him out of your synagogues, or your places of worship, for unto such shall ye continue to minister; for ye know not but what they will return and repent, and come unto me with full purpose of heart, and I shall heal them; and ye shall be the means of bringing salvation unto them" (3 Nephi 18:32).

The good news about that story is they are about to be reactivated because the mom admitted that she knows the church is true and she would be willing to go back but we still have to work on the husband more.

I love the mission. I love what I have been called to do. I love Jesus Christ. I am so happy to be representing him in Samoa.

Have a good week my beloveds
