Week 14 - American Samoa

Malo le soifua!

Dang Rip Elder Visesio and Elder Lavaka. My first two companions are both on planes right now going to New Zealand and Tonga..that's weird that both my dads are already dead.

My new companion is sooo dope though. As I said before Elder Masuisui was in my intake and we sat right next to each other in the MTC, now we are back together here in Tutuila its pretty sick. We are both so ready to get this area back up man we spent like all last Sunday like making goals and just getting ready for this transfer. We know we are gonna see some miracles happen here as we keep being obedient and doing our part of this work. We are trying to speak to each other in Samoan as much as possible so we can boost our language abilities this transfer. We also even made a workout program cuz there are some weights in the house that we stay at so we plan on both being yoked as in about a month haha. we both split a carton of eggs every morning and we eat a ton of canned tuna haha gainzzz broo.

There is this one family that we visit that is freaking hilarious I love them. The dad's name is Tasi and he never wears a shirt and every time we come over there he just talks our ear off man he is hilarious. They are like hardcore Assembly of God and it is really interesting to hear their point of view. And sweet Moses their prayers are intense! they just go on and on and on and on its quite impressive actually. but anyway Tasi was like, " how about you guys come to our church one Sunday and we go to yours one Sunday".. I was thinking that would be super dope but we still have to get permission from president. but ya I really hope we get to do that.

We had another interesting and quite disappointing teaching experience the other day. We were teaching this guy who is about 40 and his mom about the plan of salvation and it didn't really go how we planned.. he is a Sunday school teacher for another church and as we tried to teach the plan of salvation he just kept jumping in and like trying to get us to "just think about it" and he kinda treated us like we didn't know what we were talking about.. then he would go on this long explanation of a topic and was like contradicting himself left and right and then he would be like, "I am sorry, this might be a little to deep for you two but I really want you to think about it". Bro inside I was getting heated. Like this dude was making absolutely no sense and every question we asked him he would like redirect it and go off on some BS explanation.. Like I was trying my best to like keep a smile on my face and teach instead of bash but I was ready to just start dropping bombs on this dude.. I don't know the scriptures as well as I want to but I know enough to where I could have just used the Bible and the Book of Mormon to catch him in like everything he said.. But like right before I wanted to just start going at him my comp just started testifying about eternal families and how God wants us to be happy with them now and forever. I didn't notice that the spirit was so absent before until my comp started talking and the spirit just came into the room. As the lesson went on he still rejected our invitation for him to read the Book of Mormon because he didn't want to "offend god" or something like that. Even though this guy may never accept this message I learned a huge lesson about teaching by the spirit. as it says in the doctrine and covenants (sorry i am too lazy to get the exact reference right now) "you cannot teach without the spirit". conversion only happens when people feel the spirit. that's the only way it can happen. I was so focused on trying to get this guy to see his flaw in logic instead of trying to help him feel the spirit. Its good to know what you are talking about but if you don't have the spirit with you it won't matter. Such a good reminder for me man..

anywayyyzz friends and family I wish all of you the best Christmas of all times!

Elder Love
