Week 12 - American Samoa

Malo!

The work is really moving here in Malaeimi now! we have 4 baptismal dates and we have been finding more people to teach. We found this one guy and he asked why angel Moroni is on the temple and not Jesus Christ. So i said I have no idea and after my companion straight faasoa'd me and told me never to say I don't know. I was like broooo why not? Like I am trying to be upfront and honest with people and honestly I didn't know the answer to that question. It took some humility to take the advice and he helped me understand that people here take, "i don't know" like way hard and like evidence that we aren't telling the truth. so he helped me understand what to say when I don't know an answer to question that is still being honest.. by telling people you don't know everthing and that you will do all that you can to find the answer but then testify of what you do know. that was just a small little thing in the work but It's just a good reminder for me to always stay humble. Man staying humble and teachable is soo important out here.

We met with Ayo again and he taught us some Tagolog! "comosta ka?" ya i might just be fluent in Tagalog when I get back too haha. sorry i don't have a lot of time today I will be more inspirational next week don't worry! Just wanna shout out to my priests quorum back home and remind you boys to keep doing what you know you are supposed to be doing. One thing I learned out here is that just being called as a missionary won't change who you are. Believe me its not some magic potion once you get a mission call you are all righteous and you know everything.. Like yes there is power in being set apart as a missionary and the lord WILL magnify your faithful efforts but if you aren't preparing now nothing will change when you get your mission call. If you guys get a chance in priests quorum I want you guys to read the verse 2 and 3 of Alma 17 and answer the question,"how can we prepare now to be powerful instruments in God's hand when we get called on missions?

I love you all!

Elder Love
