Week 3 - American Samoa

Talofa!

This week I had the opportunity to baptize Tasi!! funny story he is like 6'5 350 pounds with long hair so baptizing him was nothing short of a challenge. I had to like shove his hair down and then his shoulders were still poking out of the water so I had to shove those down so it looked pretty awkward haha. people told me after that he almost baptized me hahah. It was good tho I did the prayer faasamoa.. But this week wasn't short of challenges either! Man you know the saying "just get lost in the work"? ya right now I definitely feel lost but not in the work hahah. It feels as if I am on the outside looking in to the work because most of the days I sit in lessons, struggle through my part, and then just try and listen and understand. The language barrier is killing me man its hard to "get lost in the work" when you can't really do the work in the language that everyone speaks. but I making small steps every day.. I understood perfectly a question that one lady asked about how we felt when we got baptized, I talk as much as I can everyday, and my prayers and testimony are slowly getting better in Samoan the more I practice. Upped my Tusi a Mamona reading to 4 pages a day so I will finish exactly on Valentines day of next year! I read side by side slowly and mark in the margins what is happening in English. am so excited. I am already starting to understand what I am reading and the language patterns are slowly becoming clearer. but I know it is a process I just gotta be patient. Got the first vision memorized! now I am gonna do James 1:5 this week.

 random things:
-my comp uses women's perfume instead of cologne because "it smells better" --victoria's secret pure seduction. no lie.
-people come up to us on the street and just give us cash.. im rolllllinnn in dough rn no lie
-I played soccer for some kids this week and started juggling and doing some around the worlds and such, balancing the ball on my head, and they took a video and put it on facebook haha. now I get random comments from  people on the street of how they have seen my video "on the facebook"

good stuff! I am so grateful for the opportunity to be representing Christ out here. It is alot of pressure but I know that our message is pure and beautiful and I know i am doing whats right. Also, I LOVE studying the scriptures now. I never did before but now that I have to teach out of them I am studying like crazy! E moni le tusitusiga pa'ia! toe feiloa'i!
